1. Installation of diamond grinding wheel

When installing the grinding wheel, special attention should be paid. The grinding wheel operates under high-speed rotation conditions and should be carefully inspected before use. Cracks are not allowed. The installation needs to be firm and static balance adjustment should be carried out to avoid personal injury and quality accidents.

The inner hole of the grinding wheel and the outer circle of the grinding wheel shaft or flange should not be too tight, otherwise the grinding wheel may expand due to heat during grinding, which can easily cause the grinding wheel to crack and cannot be too loose. Otherwise, the grinding wheel may become eccentric, lose balance, and cause vibration.

The general fit clearance is 0.1-0.8mm, and the clearance between high-speed grinding wheels is smaller. When clamping the grinding wheel with a flange, the diameters of the two flanges should be equal, and their outer diameters should not be less than 1/3 of the outer diameter of the grinding wheel.

Apply thick cardboard or oil resistant rubber as a gasket between the flange and the end face of the grinding wheel to evenly distribute the pressure. The tightening force of the nut should not be too large, otherwise the grinding wheel will break; Pay attention to the direction of tightening the thread, which should be opposite to the direction of rotation of the grinding wheel. When the grinding wheel rotates counterclockwise, turn the thread to the right. This way, under the grinding force, the grinding wheel will drive the nut to tighten more and more tightly.

2. Dressing of diamond grinding wheels

During the grinding process, the abrasive particles of the grinding wheel gradually become rounded and blunt under the action of friction and compression, or when grinding ductile materials, the abrasive debris is often embedded in the pores on the surface of the grinding wheel, causing the surface of the grinding wheel to block, and then causing the grinding wheel to lose its cutting ability.

At this point, there may be slipping between the grinding wheel and the workpiece, which may cause vibration and noise, leading to a decrease in grinding efficiency and a decrease in surface roughness. At the same time, the increase in grinding force and grinding heat can cause deformation of the workpiece and affect grinding accuracy, and in severe cases, it can also cause small cracks to appear on the grinding surface.

In addition, due to the uneven hardness of the grinding wheel and the different working conditions of the abrasive particles, the wear on the working surface of the grinding wheel is uneven, and the amount of abrasive particles falling off from each part varies, resulting in the loss of external accuracy of the grinding wheel and affecting the shape accuracy and roughness of the workpiece surface.

When encountering the above situations, the grinding wheel needs to be trimmed, cutting off a layer of abrasive on the surface to expose smooth and sharp abrasive particles on the surface of the grinding wheel again, in order to restore the cutting ability and appearance accuracy of the grinding wheel.
